About Us

The Fine Arts Study Program is part of the Faculty of Visual Arts and Design ISI Yogyakarta which teaches fine arts whose creation is driven by conscience or spiritual needs that are subjective and not directly related to practical or functional needs.

Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Arts are the leading fields of expertise in art education in the Fine Arts Study Program at the Faculty of Visual Arts and Design ISI Yogyakarta since academic education was established under the name ASRI (Indonesian Academy of Visual Arts) which was formed in 1950 in Yogyakarta. The Intermedia Fine Arts Field of Study is a scientific pioneer developed to answer the challenges of global art in the future. The creative results of art creation and art studies produced by students, lecturers and alumni have made a real contribution to the development of art both locally, nationally and internationally, especially in the field of fine arts.

 

Career Outlook

The Fine Arts Study Program produces Bachelor of Fine Arts in the field of Creation and Assessment with the following qualifications:

  1. Philosophically, graduates have cultural insight, are able to live, practice, and implement their abilities in the discourse of fine arts in general, and fine arts in particular.
  2. Mastering the basics and applications of science and technology that support the development of their specialization and able to formulate various problems of fine arts conceptually, systematically and methodically.
  3. Have creative and professional abilities in the creation and study of fine arts; and be able to implement, manage and create opportunities for their profession/works, independently or in collaboration with various fields/other parties in the national and international community, in order to anticipate globalization.
  4. Having a profession as a practitioner in other fine arts fields that are still in the same flow with his major in accordance with his study orientation so that it becomes a synergy with his abilities.

The educational objective of the Fine Arts Study Program is to produce graduates who are able to appreciate and introduce national cultural values and be able to respond to cultural symptoms in general that are closely related to the field studied, for the development of their personality and insight. Mastering the scientific basics and being able to analyze and solve problems in the field of fine arts in general and the field of expertise in particular. Able to create and develop works of art in interaction with the development of science and technology. Able to develop and apply knowledge and skills in the field of fine arts for the benefit of society. The Department of Fine Arts organizes Painting, Sculpture & Graphic study programs.

 

Graduate Profile

Graduates of the Bachelor Fine Arts Study Program at ISI Yogyakarta are scholars who have the ability to think scientifically, critically, and innovatively academically. In addition, they are able to create a world of work that is guided by the results of fine arts both as gallery owners, art entrepreneurs, art management, and event organizers.

Bachelor of Fine Arts graduates can work and develop their careers in educational and cultural institutions, tourism through the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. In addition to working in government or private institutions, graduates are able to contribute to the world through multinational institutions, including working with cultural attaches and art galleries abroad.

The results of creativity of Bachelor of Fine Arts are able to provide works of art that can be donated to the country in the form of monuments and research towards innovation in accordance with the times. This is described through several fields including:
